Amanda Blake
Amanda Blake was an American actress who appeared in many shows and films. The most prominent role she played was as Miss Kitty Russell on the TV show "Gunsmoke.' Alongside this, she has appeared in television series such as "The Red Skelton Show", "Tattletales" and "The Edge of Night". Also, she was a part of in dozens of other films that included Stars In My Crown, Duchess Of Idaho, Cattle Town, Miss Robin Crusoe,?"About Mrs. Leslie",?The Adventures of Hajjibaba and The Boost What?. Blake had been an operator of telephones by trade, loved animals. Along with Frank Gilbert, she was the first person to breed cheetahs successfully in captive. She co-founded alongside her husband Frank Gilbert of Arizona Animal Welfare League. Blake was a past committee member for the Humane Society of the United States. Blake was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The American Cancer Society also gave Blake the Courage Award.
