Lucy Liu is a voice actress and director. She's also an actress. Beautiful, intelligent and gifted actress, she is an example to Asian actors aspiring to become big names in Hollywood. A series of successful early roles in a popular TV show led to her becoming well-known for her part in the character on Ally McBeal, where she was Ling Woo. In the wake of her success, she landed significant roles in Shanghai Noon (1998) and Charlie's Angels (2000). In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave a stunning performance as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii. At the same time, she also played leading roles in several film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to voice prominent characters in animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was an unimportant role which did not have any effect. Southland, a critically acclaimed series of crime dramas that had Liu playing recurring role, allowed her to reaffirm her status as a performer. Liu has a lot of care when selecting her roles, so she's not a typecast. She has accepted her Chinese roots but hasn't let it restrict her creativity.
